About Dan
Dan comes from a background in the performing arts and has been in the industry over 10 years. He has training and experience in acting, dance and stage combat – armed and unarmed including various styles of martial arts. With this expertise he is able to pay particular attention to the needs of actors, dancers and fight/stunt performers, such as improving strength, tone, posture, flexibility and energy levels.
Dan also works locally with people who fit more into the general population working to improve health, fitness and diet to achieve and maintain a healthy active lifestyle.
Dan is committed to reduce the large amount of people in London, and England, living unhealthy and sedentary lifestyles, to educate people in the benefits of fitness, both physiologically and psychologically, to instruct them in simple ways to improve their life, and to motivate them to stick to their aims and achieve their goals.
Qualifications
Dan holds a YMCA/CYQ Certificate in Personal Training (CPT), which is recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 3.
The qualification includes gym training, first aid, circuit training, client appraisal, nutrition, walking, training in different environments, advanced gym training and business and marketing.
Dan's sports background involves swimming, cross country running, cycling, fencing, canoeing, climbing, boxing and sailing. As a teenager Dan competed regionally and nationally in swimming and cross country running.
Dan has attended ballet and jazz dance classes since 1989 and has performed and assisted choreography in various performances for the stage. Dan is also becoming a competent Latin and ballroom dancer.
Dan has completed an Advanced British Academy of Dramatic Combat (BADC) stage fighting award with a gold qualification and achieved British Standard Gold Star Awards in Fencing Proficiency with Foil, Epee and Sabre. He is proficient with a range of other weapons as well as a variety of unarmed fighting styles. Dan has extensive experience in instruction, direction and performance of stage combat.
Dan has also been the body conditioning instructor for Urdang Academy, a dance college based in Angel, London. He taught six sessions of body conditioning every week to the first and second year resident dance students. Visit the Urdang Academy website at.
The past two years Dan played a big part in the Lambeth Riverside Festival. Dan arranged and co-ordinated a series of health and fitness activities for the festival, including health screening days, free circuit training classes free heath and fitness advice, and a competition to win 8 free personal training sessions. In 2005 Dan travelled the country as a fitness trainer and health adviser for Alpro Soya on a national town centre promotional campaign. Dan ran and compared the ‘Alpro Bike Challenge' where the public could come and race against a friend, on an exercise bike, for half a mile and win an Alpro goodie bag or a free weekend pass to a Holmes Place health club. Additionally Dan gave advice to anyone wanting to improve their health. Dan has also been to the Alpro head offices to instruct staff on improving health during their own in-house ‘healthy living week'.

In 2006 Dan worked on a similar national campaign as a personal trainer for EDF Energy; running the ‘Energy Exchange Zone' where groups where encouraged to give their energy on different pieces of exercise equipment in exchange for various prizes, as well as campaigns for Alpro and Holmes Place.
Also in 2006 Dan was an event manager (and health advisor) for a joint campaign with Alpro Soya and Holmes Place Health Clubs. Dan was based around 4 central London clubs advising staff and public on the benefits of Soya as well as co-ordinating free breakfast/lunch pack giveaways for customers.
