Writing
Dan has a very keen interest in writing, for both stage and screen. While at school Dan always enjoyed writing stories - which often turned out so deep and elaborate that he had to hand them in unfinished. When studying drama the class was sometimes given the chance to write their own scripts. Dan and a couple of friends, who thought alike, usually wrote together. This continued into college where he studied various styles and genres of writing and wrote for many of the TV, film and radio projects they were given; such as horror, film noir, comedy, soap, drama and documentary and some of which were actually used by the local radio and cable TV stations. Also during college Dan and some friends decided to make productions in their own time. Between them they took it in turns to write and direct various short films and comedy sketches.
After leaving college and moving to London the writing went on hold for a while, but he always promised to himself that one day he would write something that people could see, either on a stage or a big screen. Within a few years the bug had returned and he began jotting down ideas, some even made it as far as a few scripted scenes but nothing yet had held his attention for long enough. In early 2003 Dan noticed an advert for new comedy writers. It was for a TV sketch show that would be broadcast on ITV called 'Shoot the Writers'. They wanted original comedy sketches to go into the show and the viewers would vote for their favourite. He knew he still had some sketches in his old college notes so he picked out the best ones, tweaked them a little and sent them off. He was very pleased when he received a letter telling him one of his sketches had been picked to go into the first episode. He was even more pleased when he was told it had won the audience vote.
Dan's Latest project 'Consequences', took nearly two years of development before going into pre-production for a film and stage production..
